Semi:Formal developed a comprehensive suite of creative assets for Haunted Heist, the directorial debut of Lil Rel Howery, starring Howery, Tiffany Haddish, King Bach, Karlous Miller, Brett Gelman, Ari Dayan, Tony Baker, and more. Blending horror and comedy, the project brought together title design, motion graphics, custom props, illustration, key art, and marketing to establish a cohesive visual identity for the film. From on-screen storytelling to promotional materials, our work helped create a distinct visual world that carried across multiple touchpoints, demonstrating our ability to support a film’s creative needs from production through release.

Semi:Formal conceptualized, designed, and animated the title sequence for Revolution, a documentary featured on the History Channel that explores the groundbreaking development of the GMC Hummer EV. Inspired by the vehicle’s innovative engineering and the behind-the-scenes look at its development, the sequence combines dynamic motion, electrifying visuals, and intricate design details. The result is a cinematic introduction that captures the vehicle’s power, technology, and forward-thinking design while reflecting the documentary’s focus on innovation and transparency.

Kids Like Us

Semi developed the title design, poster, and marketing materials for Kids Like Us, a short film directed by Luke Jaden, with electronic music pioneer Richie Hawtin joining the project as executive producer. Released through NOWNESS, the film explores identity, connection, and self-discovery through the underground techno culture of early ’90s Detroit. Drawing from an archive of original ’90s underground rave posters and flyers, our team used the era’s raw typography, experimental compositions, and DIY aesthetic as the foundation for the film’s visual identity. These references informed a cohesive design language across the title treatment, poster, and promotional materials, paying homage to the visual culture of a movement that helped shape electronic music.
AYA

Semi:Formal developed the title design and animation for AYA, a Heroic Hearts Project documentary following a group of military veterans seeking healing through psychedelic therapy in the jungles of Yelapa, Mexico. Inspired by the visions and patterns associated with ayahuasca ceremonies, our team created custom letterforms and animation exploring themes of harmony, disarray, balance, and transformation. Through shifting forms and fluid movement, the sequence reflects the emotional and psychedelic nature of the participants’ journeys.
